Privacy
The Privacy Rule, a Federal law, gives you rights over your health information and sets rules and limits on who can look at and receive your health information. The Privacy Rule applies to all forms of individuals’ protected health information, whether electronic, written, or oral. This includes photos of affected sites.
The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) impacts any organization that deals with individuals’ identifiable health information. When you make a request to our organization/board of directors, or any other organization, to share your personal health information (PHI), we/they fall under the criteria set by federal and state laws. Although we are not classified as a covered entity or direct business associate, the moment we have possession of your PHI, we become responsible to the law to protect that information. Therefore, under the direction of an attorney, we have chosen to provide HIPAA Disclosure documentation, for everyone’s protection.
